"Long ago, existence was split into Twelve Universes. For a time, the balance of existence dictated that each Universe should have a twin, with each Universe being numbered, one to twelve, and the combined numbers of each Universe adding to thirteen. The structure of each Universe was roughly the same for each one: there was the living realm, and Other World, where the dead dwelled. Besides the living realm and Other World, there was the Demon Realm, and the Kai's Realm. In each Universe, there were the Supreme Kai, who created planets and life, while the Gods of Destruction, one for each Universe, was set to destroy life and planets, in order to create a balance. For a while, this set up worked, with each Universe maintaining balance. Of course, as was often the case, such things were not meant to last. The balance of Universe 1, and Universe 12, which traditionally had been the most balanced of the Universes, was eradicated in an instant, one being having eradicated both Universes Gods of Destruction, as well as the Supreme Kai of each Universe. At that moment, time stopped, the balance of existence itself having been threatened. Now, contrary to what most might think, existence has a consciousness beyond what any being was capable of interacting with, like how animals are incapable of knowing the consciousness of a sentient being, so too were sentient beings incapable of knowing of the consciousness of existence. Existence, in a move that would change the shape of the Twelve Universes, shifted, restarting and yet...not. Instead of Twelve Universes, there was now one, a full of life from all Twelve Universes. In the wake of this new existence, a new balance was achieved, one which no longer required a God of Destruction to actively maintain...no, instead the God of Destruction's position was renamed and given a new purpose, to watch over the Universe." -Plot
