A brand spankin new literate sled dog role-play! We haven't started yet, still looking for sign ups!
Plot:
'The Iditarod, referred to as the last great race on Earth. 12 grueling days of frantic running in sub zero temperatures, danger lurking around every slippery turn. Ask any dog participating and they will tell you, the humans have it easy. Don't get them wrong, they live for this, every sled dog dreams of carrying their team across the finish line to snag that dazzling trophy. But sometimes, when you are on your 8th or 9th day of running, your feet are bleeding, your legs are begging for rest, and you realize you still have 30 miles to go before you call it a day, you wonder "What have I gotten myself into?". It's those times that separate the winners from the losers. Fatigue and injury aren't the only dangers out on the trail. At night when you are huddled next to your teammates trying to keep warm you hear the howling of a hungry wolf pack, and you know this is what they live for, easy prey. Of course the wolves are the least of your worries when faced with the awful scent of a lone bear, an early riser, hibernation making him consumed with hunger. That's when you realize how high the risk is.
But, rest assured it is worth the risk. Even if you don't get 1st or 2nd or 3rd, just crossing the finish line is an enormous accomplishment. Since many racers and their teams don't get that privilege. Mushers and dogs alike swear that they will never do it again, but you can bet that come next March they will be lined up at the starting line. Waiting for that signal.
It's not a hobby, it's not a passion, it's a way of life.'
